Rate Equation Network for Baryon Production in High Energy Nuclear Collisions

We develop and solve a network of rate equations for the production of baryons and anti-baryons in high energy nuclear collisions. We include all members of the baryon octet and decuplet and allow for transformations among them. This network is solved during a relativistic 2+1 hydrodynamical expansion of the of the hot matter created in the collision. As an application we compare to the number of protons, lambdas, negative cascades, and omega baryons measured at mid-rapidity in central collisions of gold nuclei at 65 GeV per nucleon at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC).

Lattice Gauge Theory Sum Rule for the Shear Channel

An exact expression is derived for the $(\omega,p)=0$ thermal correlator of shear stress in SU($N_c$) lattice gauge theory. I remove a logarithmic divergence by taking a suitable linear combination of the shear correlator and the correlator of the energy density. The operator product expansion shows that the same linear combination has a finite limit when $\omega\to\infty$. It follows that the vacuum-subtracted shear spectral function vanishes at large frequencies at least as fast as $\alpha_s^2(\omega)$ and obeys a sum rule. Update analysis of : Theory and Experiment

Within the resonance chiral theory (RχT), we have studied the process of a tau lepton decaying into a vector resonance plus a pseudo-Goldstone meson and a tau neutrino. Two kinds of processes are discussed: (a) τ − → ( ρ 0 π − , ω π − , ϕ π − , K ∗ 0 K − ) ν τ , belonging to Δ S = 0 processes and (b) Δ S = 1 processes, such as τ − → ( ρ 0 K − , ω K − , ϕ K − , K ¯ ∗ 0 π − ) ν τ . To fit the τ − → ω π − ν τ spectral function and the decay distribution of τ − → ω K − ν τ to get unknown resonance couplings, we then make a prediction for branching ratios of all channels.

Evidence for the decayX(3872)→J/ψω

We present a study of the decays B^(0,+)→J/ψπ^+π^-π^0K^(0,+), using 467×10^6 BB[overbar] pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. We present evidence for the decay mode X(3872)→J/ψω, with product branching fractions B(B^+→X(3872)K^+)×B(X(3872)→J/ψω)=[0.6±0.2(stat)±0.1(syst)]×10^(-5), and B(B^0→X(3872)K^0)×B(X(3872)→J/ψω)=[0.6±0.3(stat)±0.1(syst)]×10^(-5). A detailed study of the π^+π^-π^0 mass distribution from X(3872) decay favors a negative-parity assignment.

Search for the charge-conjugation-forbidden decayω→ηπ0

2009

A new upper limit of 2.3x10{sup -4} on the branching ratio of the decay {omega}{yields}{eta}{pi}{sup 0} has been obtained using the Crystal Ball multiphoton spectrometer at the Mainz Microtron MAMI. This decay is forbidden by charge-conjugation invariance of the strong and electromagnetic interactions. We have also obtained the upper limit of 2.3x10{sup -4} for the forbidden decay {omega}{yields}3{pi}{sup 0} and the upper limit of 2.4x10{sup -4} for {omega}{yields}2{pi}{sup 0}.

Possible ω bound states in nuclei produced with the (γ,p) reaction

We perform calculations for ω production in nuclei by means of the ( γ, p) reaction for photon energies and proton angles suited to currently running and future experiments in present laboratories. For some cases of possible ω optical potentials, we find that clear peaks are observable when a good resolution in the ω energy is available. We also study the inclusive production of π 0 γ in nuclei around the ω energy and find a double hump structure for the energy spectra, with a peak around a π 0 γ energy of mω − 100 MeV, which could easily be misidentified by a signal of an ω bound state in nuclei, while it is actually due to a different scaling of the uncorrelated π 0 γ production and ω pro…

Hyperon polarization asymmetry: Polarized beams andΩ−production

The parton recombination model relates polarizations in inclusive baryon fragmentation to those of the underlying constituent subprocesses. Measurements of spin-spin correlations in experiments using polarized beams will provide detailed information on the quark spin dynamics in the color-confining recombination process. We present a large number of predictions for the octet baryon\ensuremath{\rightarrow}octet baryon transitions. Scale setting via the \Omega\ baryon mass

We present the first results of an ongoing effort to determine the lattice scale on the N_f=2 CLS lattice ensembles via the mass of the \Omega\ baryon. Results from different methods are compared, and various sources of systematic uncertainty are discussed.

Search for Second-Class Currents inτ−→ωπ−ντ

We report an analysis of tau- decaying into omega.pi-.nu_tau with omega -> pi+pi-pi0 using a data sample containing nearly 320 million tau pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-Factory. We find no evidence for second-class currents and we set an upper limit of 0.69% at 90% confidence level for the fraction of second-class currents in this decay mode.
